Hammam (oriental Turkish bath)

The hammam – also known as an oriental Turkish bath – is an age-old traditional cleansing and relaxation practice dating back to Arab and Roman times. The ritual involves warming the body with moist steam in a specially designed room. The warm, moist steam opens the skin’s pores to deeply cleanse and remove impurities and toxins, improving the skin’s overall appearance and radiance, leaving it soft and clean. The hot and humid environment of the hammam helps to relax the muscles and release built-up tension and stress. This treatment is therefore ideally suited to those experiencing muscle aches or stiffness. The hammam also stimulates the immune system, helping the body to fight infections. In fact, the increase in body temperature stimulates the production of white blood cells and other immune cells.
